【摘要】:Electricalequipmentcanfailasaresultofelectricaltrackingofinsulatingmaterialthatisexposedtovariouscontaminatingenvironmentsandsurfaceconditions.ThereareanumberofASTMandothertestsdesignedtoquantifybehaviorofmaterials,especiallyatrelativelyhighvoltages.Thismethodisanacceleratedtestwhichatrelativelylowtestvoltages,providesacomparisonoftheperformanceofinsulatingmaterialsunderwetandcontaminatedconditions.Thecomparativetrackingindexisnotrelateddirectlytothesuitableoperatingvoltageinservice.Whenorganicelectricalinsulatingmaterialsaresubjectedtoconductioncurrentsbetweenelectrodesontheirsurfaces,manyminutetree-likecarbonaceouspathsortracksaredevelopedneartheelectrodes.Thesetracksareorientedrandomly,butgenerallypropagatebetweentheelectrodesundertheinfluenceoftheappliedpotentialdifference.Eventuallyaseriesoftracksspanstheelectrodegap,andfailureoccursbyshortingoftheelectrodes.Theconditionsspecifiedhereinareintended,asinothertrackingtestmethods,toproduceaconditionconducivetotheformationofsurfacedischargesandpossiblesubsequenttracking.Testconditionsarechosentoreproduciblyandconvenientlyaccelerateaprocess;forthisreason,theyrarelyreproducethevariedconditionsfoundinactualservice.Therefore,whiletrackingtestsservetodifferentiatematerialsundergivenconditions,resultsoftrackingtestscannotbeusedtoinfereitherdirectorcomparativeservicebehaviorofanapplicationdesign.Rather,trackingtestresultsprovideatoolforjudgingthesuitabilityofmaterialsforagivenapplication.Thesuitabilitycanonlybeverifiedthroughtestingthedesigninactualenduseorunderconditionswhichsimulateenduseascloselyaspossible.1.1Thistestmethodevaluatesinashortperiodoftimethelow-voltage(upto600V)trackresistanceorcomparativetrackingindex(CTI)ofmaterialsinthepresenceofaqueouscontaminants.1.2Thevaluesstatedinmetric(SI)unitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundequivalentsofthemetricunitsareapproximate.1.3ThisstandardistechnicallyequivalenttotheversionofIECPublication112citedin.However,the2007versionofIEC60112FourthEditionyieldsnumericalCTIvaluesthatareverylikelytodiffersignificantlyfromthisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
